COP29: How our Accredited Solutions Providers can help you take climate action in light of the upcoming Conference of the Parties in Azerbaijan.

  • CDP Partnerships Team

October 30 2024

Next month will see global leaders and signatories to the Paris Agreement meet for the 29th Conference of the Parties in Baku, Azerbaijan to discuss international collaboration on climate change. Dubbed the ‘Finance COP’, a major focus of COP29 will be on climate finance, where representatives from across the globe will come together to set a new global climate finance goal, and the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) will be front and center of the conversation. National governments are also updating their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) ahead of COP30 in Brazil – the ambition and investibility of these NDCs will be critical to scale up private sector investment and enable companies to accelerate the transition. Corporate environmental data is crucially important to informing NDCs and their associated national plans. CDP’s alignment with the most relevant reporting standards will enable businesses to provide standardized environmental data that fuels decision-making and action at all levels. CDP’s Accredited Solutions Providers bring together a wealth of expertise across various sectors to support with environmental disclosure and accelerate progress towards achieving climate goals.

This month, we are excited to announce that Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd, a silver consultancy solutions provider in Japan has come on board as an Accredited Solutions Provider and is available to support businesses and government agencies with disaster prevention, climate change, and water risk countermeasures. Kokusai Kogyo has continued to evolve its “Hakaru” (measure) technology through spatial measurement, including data acquisition and analysis, and consulting, including data utilization, planning, and design. They are committed to proactively solving global-scale social issues and contributing to a sustainable Earth for future generations.

We are also delighted to announce that the following Accredited Solutions Providers have renewed their partnerships with CDP and will continue to support companies on their environmental journeys:

Sphera, a silver software solutions provider in the United States, provides Enterprise Sustainability Management (ESM) performance and risk management software, data and consulting services. Their offering covers Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S), Operational Risk Management (ORM), Product Stewardship and Supply Chain Transparency. They support companies to simplify and streamline greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting; assess and quantify the carbon reduction potential on the material level; and set near-term science-based targets (SBTs). Sphera also helps companies track and report on progress against long-term net-zero commitments, evaluate emissions reduction pathways to inform their decarbonization strategies, guiding them towards achieving net-zero goals.

Yachiyo Engineering Corporation, a silver consultancy solutions provider in Japan, provides support from water risk investigation to strategy formulation and contributes to the development and preservation of social infrastructure and the environment. The company is committed to contributing to a sustainable society by using their skills and experience to provide companies with guidance on how to address the environmental issues they face.
